DIA DE LUZ
See this video documenting our time there….On March 6, 2008, a flood of people, music, and kites invaded the trash dump in Managua, Nicaragua, where nearly 1,500 people live, work, and make their homes. I was fortunate enough to join the team from Love Light and Melody
who traveled to Nicaragua to celebrate the second annual Dia De Luz which was created to break down emotional, physical, and cultural barriers, while reawakening the dreams, imagination, and hope of the people who live there.

My Name is Gissella Sotelo am 22 years old. I was born in the beautiful county of Managua Nicaragua. Which now is a third world country and second in the list of the poorest counties in the world. At the age of one my family and I left Nicaragua due to the massive war that took place in the 80’s. I have never been back to Nicaragua very since even though I know it is my home land. I grow up in Miami, FL in a home with two hard working presents who tough me the value of hard work and that everything in life is earn not given. From a very early age I made myself a promise that if I ever had the opportunity to help make a difference in this world that I would make it. I feel that the Dia De Luz is the chance that I have been waiting for all of my life to make that difference. After having the opportunity as well as the privilege of working with the homeless, prisoners, juveniles and Give a Kid a Backpack foundation I am sentient that one of my missions in life is to impact the world. I am very award of the needs of the world and the pain that our world is in due to the fact that human kind has lost themselves between the reality of the world and what Hollywood shows. I know that desperate need there is around the world for love and compassion. I want to help better the lives of others so that they are able to have the opportunity to make a difference in the world as well. I wanted to know what I can do to go to Nicaragua and work you the organization. I have a passport and I am a U.S. Citizen and in December 13, 2008 I will be receiving my Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice. If their is a way that I can help contact me at gsote3@aol.com or at 786-270-6530. Thank you for you time have a wonderful day.
