HELLO WORLD
Little Miss Rylee is two weeks old today. Is that right!?! …..and I thought my pregnancy went fast!
I’m not gonna lie….the first few days of having her home with us were tough. With little to no sleep and trying to get the hang of breastfeeding and diaper changing and swaddling and calming a crying baby…Sam and I were more than exhausted. It was an exhaustion I had never felt before. But my sister assured me that eventually my body would adjust and realize that it is capable of functioning on just three hours a night. (Noooo! I didn’t want to believe it!) But by day 4, it was like Rylee turned a switch and all of a sudden she understood the concept of sleeping! We joked that we must have been slipped a new baby overnight, because literally, we couldn’t wake her up now. At night, we have to set an alarm for every three hours to wake her up to change her and feed her. I have to blow on her face and brush her cheek and do everything I can to keep her from falling asleep while she is feeding. But I am not complaining! I know it’s far better to have that problem than to have a screamer on our hands. Rylee is back to her birth weight and gaining about an ounce a day! And mom is almost back to her pre-pregnancy weight! ….don’t ask me how. I couldn’t tell you. I am looking forward to the day when I can take Rylee with me to run my errands and on quick trips outside of the house. Maybe a week longer. As much as I love my home, I am started to get a bit of cabin fever. I find myself longing to just shop for groceries or run to the mall….ohhhh the luxuries of life.
The photo below is Ry at one week. And the first photo was taken today…at 2.
Before I know it she will be a month old already! oy! I keep having to remind myself to take tons of pictures and capture this time, because she is changing everyday.

loved this post. I can only imagine what a miracle having a baby is, but it’s actually nice to hear the honest part of the exhaustion and just wanting to do “normal” things. I’m sure things will only get better and easier – and it sounds like you’re already an amazing mama. And you’re already back to your pre-pregnancy weight?! Um, I haven’t had a baby yet, but still feeling pretty jealous
haha lucky lady!

Your little Rylee looks very much like you, Mom! Isn’t it so amazing that a tiny little person can have a family resemblance at such an early age? I found with my own kids that they looked like everyone in the family at one time or another. It was like they were flipping though the family resemblance phone book! I’m glad to hear you are keeping at home with her at first. I cringe when i see new mothers in the mall with their TEENSY babies and all those germs floating about. Although I really sympathize with your wanting to be out in the world again. Sounds like you are doing a wonderful job of parenting! Bless your little fam…:-)

It really is amazing how quickly they develop – she already looks so different! (That is to say, she’s getting cuter by the day!)

Time does fly. way. too. fast. Before you know it, she will be a year old! Although, with each passing month, I found that it got easier and easier with my little Evie. She is now just over a year old and its very easy to swoop her up and take a trip out. She charms everyone we come in contact with. Little stinker has a smile that melts. Enjoy every stage and even if every time you blink, you’re afraid your baby is growing too fast, just know that each new stage is equally as awesome and oh so worth it. Rylee is beautiful!
P.S. we have the same striped dress/top with the neon yellow flower:)
