BLACK CAT BANNER

Obviously, we like cats around here.  When saw Ruby Ellen’s Black Cat lights on instagram, I about died.  Perfect halloween decor….for a girl that’s not that into halloween decor! But instead of the lights, I decided to make a simple garland using black and white bakers twine.  While on my halloween cat kick, I wanted to also make a felt cat mask for Rylee.  I drew up a template that you can download here if you want to make your own.  (note – it’s sized to fit a one year old).  I just traced the mask onto felt and cut it out.  I actually cut out two identical masks and glued one on top of the other just to make it more sturdy.  Then I attached some elastic.  BOOM!  And it only takes about 15 minutes!  Rylee wasn’t that into having the mask over her eyes though.  She actually freaked out when she saw herself in the mirror…and who can blame her!  So we just left it sitting on top of her head….and well, that was almost cuter anyway.  Now I need to start thinking of ideas for what I can make for her actual halloween costume.  (I feel like I need to be more clever than a black cat!)  What are you guys planning!??

Star tights are from Target and fringe top was made by me

You have such good taste! You’re right, on top of the head is the best way to do it!

My 3 year old isn’t interested in being anything for Halloween… Unless it’s a race car. Yikes! I’m dealing with a lot of cardboard and papier-mâché right now at our house!

Well…J was supposed to go as Paddington Bear but I couldn’t find the right rain hat :( but after seeing this post I’m thinking to send him to school as Minggis {our fat black cat}. I’m going to make him a chubby fuzzy body vest thing and the cute mask you just posted…bam! no one will know he’s supposed to be a chubby Minggis though except for my family…oh well…
