SUPER 8 WEDDING VIDEO

Friday, December 18th, 2009

I asked my good friend Russell Brownley if he we do me the honor of putting together a short video of Sam and I for our wedding day.  Instead of the traditional slideshow you often see at receptions, I wanted to create something a little different…. more of a video montage of past and present…. combining archival footage with Super 8 film.  I scrounged up some old home videos from Sam’s parents as well as my own, footage they had shot of us when we were kids, and converted them all onto DVD’s.  I spent far too many nights sitting on the couch with my family crying with laughter over these videos.  Ohhhh the memories!   I spent hours sifting through old photo boxes picking out my favorites from each “stage” of childhood.  And then i went through my own albums and pulled pictures from when Sam and I first started dating up until now.

I have always loved the old Super 8 style film, and lucky for me, Russell had just the right stuff to make it happen.  He took us out a few evenings after work and shot us at the beach and riding bikes around our neighborhood.  I handed off all the old DVD’s and pictures I had gathered to Russell, and he ran with it from there.  When I saw the video he had made for us for the first time, I nearly started crying.  It is exactly what I was hoping for.

TEAMING UP IN VEGAS

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

On February 17th, I met up with artists Blaine Fontana, Joshua Clay, Tommii Lim, j.shea, and Serge Gay to collaborate on an 8′ X 24′ mural at the 2009 tradeshow in Las Vegas, NV.  Jedidiah, along with the Glue Network, worked together in making it all possible.  Artists flew in from all over…Portland, Chicago, San Fran….and my hometown of San Diego.  It was such a great experience to work with such talented artists from all different places. And i can honestly say it one of the most memorable and fulfilling projects i have ever been a part of.

The mural was fused of styles all centered on the fundamental idea of HOPE. After a total of three days hard at work, the mural sold for $15,000. Proceeds from the event went to support Stand Up for Kids, a nationally acclaimed organization committed to the rescue of homeless and at-risk youth.

JOAN AS POLICE WOMAN

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Ever heard of Joan?? Well i must say…she is quite the underground talent.  The last few months i have been working on some new merch design for her latest album “To Survive”.

I have quickly become a fan of Joan and her wonderfully unique sound.  Joan is a singer/songwriter, violinist, and pianist from New York City. After starting her solo career about 2 years ago, Joan has earned raves on her emotional, punk-informed take on American soul music. Here is what she has said regarding her latest album :

“The song is written from her voice,” (her mother who died during the creation of the album) she says. “It’s about her singing to me when I was a kid — you know, a young girl — being fearful of whatever was under my bed or whatever, and singing me to sleep and soothing my childhood fears. And then it’s about her going out into the other room and being with her own thoughts, and really contemplating the fact that she has the same fears as I do. You just, as an adult, learn to deal with them however you do.”

ASR’S “GIVE LOVE BACK” CAMPAIGN

Friday, September 12th, 2008

September 4-6 at ASR Jedidiah, TOMS shoes, and the Glue Network joined forces to take part in the “Give Love Back” campaign. Here is what went down.

Spectators were given the opportunity to slip on a pair of TOMS shoes, dip them in paint, and dance to the DJ’s beats.  The boards in which they danced upon served as the foundation for our paintings.  Twelve artists were each given a 4′ X 8′ wooden panel to paint upon…keeping in mind the theme of “giving love back”.  As artists took turns in creating their work…DJ’s and live musicians kept the tunes flowing all day long. All the artwork is up for silent auction and will be sold to the highest bidder. Join us at Swiv Tackle Circus on September 27th from 6-10PM for the unveiling the the completed 12 panels!

At 1PM on Friday we held the Jedidiah fashion show…featuring product from our Fall08 and Spring09 catalogs.  A good crowd gathered to watch the show….see the pics below.
