BABY SHOWER INVITATION

Friday, July 29th, 2011

I know what you are thinking….”Isn’t it a little strange to design your own baby shower invitation?”  Well, yes, I would normally say it kind of is. BUT…if you know me at all, you know that designing invitations is one of my favorite things to do….EVER….so regardless of it being kind of odd, I just HAD to!  Forgive me :)

My sisters and I had a hard time landing on a “theme” for the shower, so we decided to just start with a color palate of shades of pink, coral and grey.  And since “baby bunny” was a recurring phrase in my head….we decided to go that route, pairing it with sweet & simple florals.  I decided to go with 2 separate cards for the invitation.  One being the main 5X7 card with details and RSVP info, and the other a smaller scalloped registry card stating the places I was registered. A friend gave me the idea of asking guests to bring a pack of diapers in order to enter a raffle to win a piece of my art.  (Best idea ever!) Rylee is set in the diaper department for a few months.

All the paper goods I bought at Paper Source.  Envelopes in Papaya with a decorative paper liner.  Main Invitation and Scalloped Registry Card in Soft White.  And for printing, my tiny little printer at home worked like a charm.

THIS BABY SHOWER INVITATION DESIGN IS NOW AVAILABLE TO BUY ON MY ETSY!

The package includes a totally customized 5″X7″ main invitation, 4.25″X5.5″ registry card, as well as an 8.5″X11″ sheet of mini diaper cards and 8.5″X11″ game sheet, titled to your choice.

BABY BUMP – 30 WEEKS (+ GIVEAWAY WINNER)

Sunday, June 19th, 2011

OK, so first things first.  I know some of you have been waiting for this so I wanted to announce the winner of the BIG HUGE GIVEAWAY! It was (honestly) the hardest decision ever because there were so many of you I wanted to give this to after reading your comments….but after much contemplation I decided on…MEGAN GARTNER - I think it is wonderful that you are using your art to make a difference in the lives of neglected children.  Thanks for your heart and sacrificial spirit.  You inspire ME! :)  Email me with your address!  And thank you SHANNON WAITE for the beautiful painting!! Email me with your address too! And of course, thanks to everyone else who wrote some of the  most kind words I have ever had shared with me! I was blown away and certainly blessed by all of you this week!

And on to baby news….

The countdown begins.  10 MORE WEEKS! Holy moly. When I think in terms of weeks, it sounds just that much closer! My sister just mailed out all of my invitations for my baby shower next month and I am getting a little giddy about that!  I decided to register with just Babies”R”Us and then sign up with MyRegistry.com, which I discovered a little while ago while flipping through a pregnancy mag at Borders.  It’s pretty genius.  Basically it let’s you create one universal registry where you can add items from any store, worldwide.  Check it out if you are getting married or having a baby! I love it because it let’s you pick all the things you really love rather than being limited to the selection of just one store. All you have to do is add the little “registry button” to your browser’s toolbar and HAPPY SHOPPING! Anyway…this was not meant to turn into a sales pitch for myregistry.com, but it kind of did, and deservingly so I guess. Haha!  Our custom mattress for our odd sized vintage crib just arrived today so I am excited to get that set up in the nursery.  Sam just finished ripping out all the carpet and installing the wood floor and right now (as I type) he is putting in the base board.  Such a good hubby!  We painted the walls a cloud grey, which I looove! All the main components are starting to come together!  But still so much to do.

The babe has been uber active the last few days.  And it’s no longer those quick little kicks and punches anymore.  It feels more like rolls and stretches.  All of a sudden I will look down and there will be a big bulge on my left side that slowly shifts to the right.  I know her growth means less space to move around in my uterus. So her movements are definitely more noticeable now.  She got her first bout of hickups last night too, which was the oddest feeling.  Almost like she was tapping her foot to a beat.  It all gets more real with each passing day. She is about 3 pounds 3 ounces and almost 16 inches long!  I don’t think anyone can mistake my bulge for just a big meal anymore!  To think I will be able to look into her eyes and kiss her face in just 10 shorts weeks….literally makes me cry.  Not that that’s abnormal these days….but  I just can’t wait.  I wonder if she will look like me or like her daddy?  What do you think?  Sam has a twin so I can kind of visualize what a girl version of him might look like :) Pretty cute.  And tomorrow we get to celebrate his first Father’s Day!

HELLO DOLL

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

I have been a busy little bee the last two nights.

HELLO DOLL is a new boutique that is just getting ready to open it’s doors this week.  I was commissioned by the owner to create this 5′ X 7′ canvas painting to display on one of the stores main walls.  Being the procrastinator that I am, I left it to the last minute to get this thing complete.  I tacked up the loose primed canvas onto one the walls in our house (the empty nursery made for a perfect spot) and sketched out the illustration large scale before pulling out my paints.  Several hours and an achy back later, here is what I made.  I had a lot of fun with it.  It’s nice to “go big” every now and then, although I plan on taking a pass on any more projects like this until after the baby comes because…well….it is belly’s turn to “go big”.  Thanks Lynna for the opportunity!

DEERFACE

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

I am in love with the illustrations by DEERFACE.   She works wonders with Gouache and WaterColour.  Inspiration to do more of that myself!  She also makes the most adorable Brooches and miniature Stickers which she sells on her ETSY store.

She is offering $50 Gift Vouchers to her ETSY STORE.  This would be a lovely gift.

Well, I am off to Arizona for a few days to celebrate my cousin graduating from college.  Hopefully I will return with some color in my cheeks.   xoxo -Kelli
