I know what you are thinking….”Isn’t it a little strange to design your own baby shower invitation?”  Well, yes, I would normally say it kind of is. BUT…if you know me at all, you know that designing invitations is one of my favorite things to do….EVER….so regardless of it being kind of odd, I just HAD to!  Forgive me

My sisters and I had a hard time landing on a “theme” for the shower, so we decided to just start with a color palate of shades of pink, coral and grey.  And since “baby bunny” was a recurring phrase in my head….we decided to go that route, pairing it with sweet & simple florals.  I decided to go with 2 separate cards for the invitation.  One being the main 5X7 card with details and RSVP info, and the other a smaller scalloped registry card stating the places I was registered. A friend gave me the idea of asking guests to bring a pack of diapers in order to enter a raffle to win a piece of my art.  (Best idea ever!) Rylee is set in the diaper department for a few months.

All the paper goods I bought at Paper Source.  Envelopes in Papaya with a decorative paper liner.  Main Invitation and Scalloped Registry Card in Soft White.  And for printing, my tiny little printer at home worked like a charm.

Aren’t these two the cutest?  They are getting their vows renewed in September and I just finished their Save the Date. I wanted to share the illustration.  Sarah’s ‘real-life’ dress is STUNNING!

I’ve been looking forward to sharing these photos!  I’ve had them on my hands for a bit now but we have been waiting in anticipation to release them!  Sam and I had the opportunity to work with Krystel Tien of COUTURE EVENTS on an old Hollywood inspired wedding shoot.  Generally, Sam is not to fond of the camera, but he was a trooper and looked pretty darn handsome if I can say so myself!  Taryn and Shelby of JOIELALA are responsible for these amazing photos.  I just can’t say enough good things about these girls!  Invitations and menus were created by my sweet friend Suzy Lee of DEAR DARLING.  I am obsessed with her calligraphy.

I recently finished designing the bridal shower invitation for one of my best friends Dana Hamaan.  We’ve known eachother since high school and she is one of those friends who I know will be a part of my life forever.  No matter where life might lead us.  I admire her in so many ways.  She is getting married this October to an amazing man and I am so incredibly happy for her! Her wedding ceremony and reception will be held outdoors at her parents ranch and the style of her wedding is soft, vintage, and organic.  Lots of burlap, muslin and lace, mason jars and twinkle lights….and a very neutral, muted color palate made up of shades of grey, ivory and tan (we have a very similar style!) Here is the inspiration board I put together for her a few months back…photos pulled from a number of other wedding websites I often visit.

One of my favorite things to do is design invitations, so it was a blast to be able to put together Dana’s bridal shower invitation.  I wanted to go for a very delicate, hand-stitched look for the invite.   Something that fit in with the theme and style of the wedding but was a bit more “girly” and sweet.   I went to PAPER SOURCE (the greatest store on earth!) and bought a few different card stocks for the main invite and small registry card.  I had the idea of getting an extra round scalloped note card to include in the invitation in which all the girls invited could write their favorite recipe and bring it back to the shower.  That way we could present to Dana somewhat of a recipe book that she can keep for her new home.  I also loaded up on a few LACE EDGE PUNCHERS from Martha Stewart…AMAAAZING….a small heart hole puncher, decorative handmade paper, and a bit of ivory paint to detail the front of each note card with a simple flower.  HERE THEY ARE!! What do you think!?

Did you know that your second baby shower is technically called a baby “sprinkle”!?  I had no idea…but how cute is that!?  I guess the “sprinkle” is supposed to mean less gifts and celebration?…not so for my little sister!    She is 8 months pregnant with her second baby boy.  Bruce, her first, is almost 2 now and he is the best thing on earth.  You ask Bruce what is in Mommy’s belly and he confidently says “baby poopy”….in his best attempt to sound out BABY COOPER…which is what they are thinking of naming the new little guy.

Kyleen is one of those people that is just effortlessly beautiful.  She is not intimidated by pregnancy and embraces the process and her changing body along the way.  We hung out the other night and I just layed there with my head on her belly and felt the baby rolling and punching.  It’s so amazing to me.  Ky is an incredible mother and friend, and I am truely blessed to have her a part of my life.  This is a pictures she took last year when she was pregnant with Bruce.  I don’t know how she does it….but she is breathtaking.

Last Thursday we celebrated her and the baby on the way with an all out sprinkle party.  Sprinkle donuts, sprinkle cupcakes, sprinkle cocoa.  (you get the idea).  And of course…I was in charge of the invitation.

And while I am on the baby bandwagon, I wanted to share a few things I have come accross while looking for gifts!  I don’t know if this relates to any of my readers….but if your a mommy or a soon-to-be mommy, or even just looking for a perfect shower gift (like me!)….this might inspire you.  Who says baby’s can’t be fashionable?
