SATURDAY MORNINGS

Sunday, April 1st, 2012

Pants – Forever 21 / Shoes – Nine West / Bag – Need Supply / Sweater – Sparkle & Fade / Coffee – Cafe Ipe

Saturday mornings are officially my favorite.  Sam and I have been making a habit of waking up early (not necessarily because we want to, but because baby wants to)…jumping in the car and driving to our favorite coffee and donut spot.  Donuts have been our new “thing”.  At least our Saturday morning “thing”.  I try to save my donut eating for Saturdays because it makes it that much more exciting.  (Can you tell I am into my donuts?) haha.  It’s also the only morning I get to spend with BOTH of my babes….so I relish in it.

These MC Hammer-esk pants are ridiculously comfy.  I am quite fond of the baggy trouser look at the moment.  It’s like I’m wearing my PJ’s with a heel.  How fabulous.  And I couldn’t resist taking some photos against this cotton candy colored wall we passed on our stroll.  It’s not often we see pink in these parts.  Anyway…I hope you all are having a wonderful relaxing weekend.  If you are reading this and live in the San Diego area….there is a fun experimental art show I am a part of tomorrow night from 7-10pm at Tiger Tiger.  More details HERE. I am excited to share what I created, but it’s a secret for now!

WINTER RETURNS

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

Jacket – Anthropologie / Skirt – Free People / Stripped shirt – Forever 21 / Hat – Urban Outfitters

Well, it certainly feels like winter has returned here.  San Diego weather is so weird sometimes.  One week it’s blazing hot, and the next I am chilled to the bone.  But I hear the chill will pass quickly.  Thank goodness!  I much prefer the sunshine! This week our family has finally gotten over our colds!  Talk about dragging on.  I think it has literally been about 6 years since I have had a true ‘cold’.  Poor Rylee had a terrible cough and was not sleeping as well as usual.  It was the first time (ever) of her getting sick….so it was a sad day for me as a mama to see her not feeling well.  Let alone try to care for her while I was feeling terrible too.  It’s kind of the worst.  I had about a hundred people tell me about the Nose Frida (snot sucker)….so I got that for Rylee and it really did help her breath a little more easily.  I would definitely recommend it!  Anyway…we got through it!  And hopefully that pesky virus won’t come around again anytime soon.

It’s hard for me to believe, but this little peanut just turned 7 months old a few days ago!  It honestly blows my mind how much faster time goes by now that I have a baby.  I thought it would be just the opposite…but man was I wrong.  She is the joy of my life and my constant source of happiness.  I can’t imagine living life without her.  The big “one year” will be here in no time.

CASUAL FRIDAY

Shirt – Anthropologie / Hat – Urban Outfitters / Shoes – H&M / Watch – Nixon / Pants – Studio 12 20

Yesterday Sam and I had to head up to LA for a couple work meetings.  I am doing some design work for a few specific clients and he had to pay a visit to our LA showroom.  We woke up at 5:30 (ouch), dropped the babe off with grandma, grabbed coffee at Pete’s (our addiction) and hit the road just as the sun was coming up.  I immediately reverted back to the “old me”…pre-baby, where I used to do this all the time.  It made me kind of miss my former work days and the freedom to go where I wanted, when I wanted.  Trust me, Rylee is well worth the sacrifice, but it was certainly nice to have a day like this…especially since Sam was with me.  We never have day trips together, just the two of us, so it was a fun change.

We had a bit of walking to do, so this is what I wore.  Comfy, casual.  I just got these fun new platform flats from H&M.  When I saw them, they reminded me of a tamed version of THESE that I love, but for a fraction of the price. Yay!  And I’ve been loving all of the colorful pants I have been seeing everywhere.   I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a mint pair…but I haven’t found a good fit yet (any suggestions!?)  I got these coral ankle pants from a local boutique called Studio 12 20 in Encinitas.  They have a whole loot of different colors….but I can’t seem to say no to coral these days.

I hope you all have a great weekend.  It’s raining cats and dogs here, which almost never happens, so we are enjoying our saturday in pajamas drinking hot cocoa.

OH…last thing.  Reminded by my post title…I wanted to share with you a blog my friend Jill started called Casual Friday. She is gorgeous (understatement) and has style for days. Check her out.

SPRING IS IN THE AIR

Top – Anthropologie / Skirt – Forever21 / Tights – Urban Outfitters / Loafers – Dolce Vita

What a beautiful weekend! It totally felt like summer in San Diego!  The beaches were packed and everyone was outside enjoying the warmth.  My cute little neighbor girls were out selling lemonade and girl scout cookies and the ice cream man actually stopped on my street.  That never happens!  But I loved it.  Perfect day for a eyelet blouse (new fav) and breezy skirt.  I had a great coffee date with my friend Karrie of Karrie Pyke Designs and Posh Paperie talking about balancing life as a working mom.  Her little guy, Frankie, is just over a year now…but she had all sorts of helpful advice on what helped her eliminate some of the stresses that go along with juggling work and motherhood.  Man is it a challenge!  I am realizing the importance of structure and organization, and not committing to more than I can handle.  (my ultimate downfall!) ahhh!  When will I learn?  Anyway, it was so refreshing to relate to someone on so many levels. I don’t have a lot of  friends who are moms as well as creatives working for themselves….so if any of you out there reading this are just that…hey, let’s be friends! haha. (seriously…)

Things are very slowly coming along on the website front.  I guess I have been working on too many projects to actually get a good jump on the re-design.  But it IS underway and I can’t wait to get my new portfolio and blog design up.  I’m not trying to rush it, but I am getting antsy!  I just need to force myself to stop doing other things and allow myself that time to devote to updating the site.  Oh time….you are such a valuable thing and yet I have so little of you! :)  I hope you guys had a great weekend! Mondays certainly come too soon, don’t they!?  Ok, back to work, bye!

EMERALD HEARTS

Pants – Mossimo for Target / Shirt – Forever21 / Shoes – Steve Madden / Watch – Nixon

These here I call my pickle pants.  For no other reason other than because they are green and they make me feel happy.  And so do pickles.  As I was dashing through Target to pick up some much needed baby wipes (yes….bad news when you run out of those) I spotted these emerald beauties gazing at me from across the isle.  I snatched them up without thinking twice.  My rule is that you don’t have to think twice when they are $24! haha.  I tried on some similar pants at Anthropologie, I think they might have been Citzen’s, for close to $200.  I couldn’t bear to hear what Sam would say if I told him how much I spent on pickle green pants….so I resisted.  I guess fate was on my side when I found these the next day!  I am being dramatic, but needless to say I was excited.  Talk about outfit on a budget….shirt for $16 and pants for $24.  Love when that happens.
