LANE is not your typical wedding website. It is raw, fresh, and on the cutting edge of fashion. I love every bit of it. Founder Karissa Fanning asked me a few months ago (before she launched the website) if she could feature Sam and I’s vintage garden wedding as one of her first posts….how could I refuse!?

Once again, I have returned to wedding mode as my sister Kerri just got engaged! I am brainstorming what I can create for invites and DIY crafts and have even starting shopping around for bridesmaid dresses! LANE has me hooked! Check it out.

INSPIRING WORKSPACES

I am in the process of decorating my home office…FINALLY…after about 2 years of living here. Sad right? But I suppose late is better than never. I have gotten comfortable with my bare walls and lone computer desk. It gets the job done but I am in desperate need of some inspiration. Here are a few workspaces I am inspired by. Can you tell I am into the vintage industrial craze? However, I can tell you right now my office will NEVER be as clean as the ones pictured. My creative process tends to get a bit “cluttered”! I am loving all things Restoration Hardware. I actually just gave in and bought the drafting table I have been obsessing over for the past few months (last picture). I am anxiously awaiting it’s delivery so that I don’t have to draw hunched over on the floor anymore. Although I am worried I have gotten so used to it that a big beautiful drafting table just might never get it’s use! (Nonsense! It will be perfect.)

BLOOM ART EXHIBITION

We Love Creativity and Syrah Wine Parlor joined forces on Thursday, May 20th to present BLOOM, An Exhibit of Art & Photography. The night was a huge success. It was the first time I had been to Syrah and the place blew me away. Take the virtual tour of the venue online! You’ll see what I mean! It’s always fun for me when I get to show with my husband. We make a good little team although Sam always ends up lugging all my stuff back to the car at the end of the night. (I guess that’s what husbands are for right!?) Thanks to Brookes who put put it all together. Stay tuned for his new poster project that is in the works!

Favorite Discovery: Recently : Using a laser beam as an exercise program for my cat! Seriously try it. It’s hilarious.
Favorite Place in the World: I have to say that home (Encinitas, CA) is honestly my favorite place to be. But a few of my favorite places to travel include Tokyo, San Francisco and New York.

OLYMPUS PEN PLEASE

Meet my newest crush! Mr. OLYMPUS PEN

I want this camera….like really badly! I have never been much of a photographer. However it is something that I would LOVE to do, but ironically always seem to forget. Why is that? Maybe it is because I have the worlds oldest canon digital? Maybe.

It is not my intention really to become a photographer….but just to have the ability to take a nice picture and document life. Life which moves far too quickly these days. Pictures are memories, and they last a life time. I feel like I have been missing out somehow in not getting into photography sooner.

Anyway, this camera is just what I’ve been looking for. How genius to combine the photographic optics of an SLR and the size and simplicity of a point and shoot! Does anyone have this? I would love to hear how you like it! Or if you have any advice in general about good beginner cameras!

MYKA’S VOWS IN THE VALLEY

Here is the latest! My friend TORI who has been a huge supporter of my work over the years asked me to create a custom painting for her best friend Myka to surprise her with on her wedding day. How fun! Tori sent me all sorts of inspiration…all of which I was in LOVE with (it seems we share a similar style!). Myka’s outfit was too cute for words : A short feather tiered dress by Aidan Mattox, a giant flower headpiece and a simple cotton bouquet! (her parents are cotton farmers!)

Let’s take just a minute and swoon over this old rustic barn……

Tori propped up the painting at the reception for Myka and G to discover during the night, and Tori later told me that the surprise was met with screams, squeals, and tears!! yay!

Every time I am in a wardrobe funk or am in need of a bit of fashion inspiration, I check out this site. It makes me want to shop….but even more so…bust out my sewing machine (who has not gotten much attention from me in the last few months. We used to have a much better relationship.)
