DREAMER. A SOLO EXHIBITION.

Friday, December 10th, 2010

Yes, It’s true.  And I’m freaking out over it a little bit.  You see…I signed up for this about two months ago thinking it would be PERFECT timing….just before Christmas and a few days before my sisters wedding (so family would be in town and everyone would be able to come!)  Well, little did I know how hectic work would become and how busy the wedding events and projects would keep me.   Anyway….it’s less than a week away and I’m still working!  But I think I just might pull it off in the nick of time….maybe given a few all nighters, we will see.  But I’m excited about what i’ve been cooking up!

The exhibit is taking place at the Habitat House….a lovely house in Golden Hill bought by the creative folks at SEZIO. They bought the space with the purpose of showcasing rotating artists and musicians throughout the year.  I am excited to be the first artist in the house for the DEBUT ART SHOW!  If you are in or near San Diego this upcoming Wednesday….I would LOVE to see you!  I ‘ve got big vision’s for the show and they are allowing me full reign to install!  eek!!  My favorite part!  Think hair braids, winter sweaters, log cabins and fuzzy animal friends….hope to see you there!

Read an article about the upcoming show HERE on San Diego 2Night.

The start of my first braid.  So much more to come.

In other exciting news!  Today is the day to announce the winner for the FANCY TREEHOUSE flower crown GIVEAWAY!  Lucky miss Lainey from LAINEY TURNS THE CAMERA ON…..you have won!  Congrats lady….you will be receiving your pretty crown shortly!

SEZIO’S 4 DAY WEEKEND

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

I know I am a few days late in re-capping my weekend…but it was a good one (better than most) and started off with a bang on Friday with WRITER’S performance at Sushi Art…part of Sezio’s Four Day Weekend.  Unfortunately I missed the set by Joel P. West & The Tree Ring the night before, but I heard nothing but rave reviews.  I’ve never talked about WRITER here on my blog before, and well, that’s a shame.  One of my dearest friends Jayme Ralph and his brother Andy make up the dynamic duo.  They were good when they started and even better today.  Their music is the kind that puts you in good spirits, the kind you want to listen to all the time.  For me, on a long road trip or in my garage painting…or live, at a party.  Because live is always best with these boys. Their beats make ya move.  It’s inspiring, and Friday night was no exception.  The venue was transformed into a sort of fort….an amazing, happy, homey, love filled fort….all thought out and pieced together by artist Wes Bruce.  He is quite the genius when it comes to installations.  Just look at these pictures!

JEDIDIAH had the opportunity to partner up with SEZIO and set up a mini pop up store inside the venue.  I must say, it was the coolest pop up store i’ve ever seen.

FRUIT OF THE SOUL

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

WOW!! I just realized I am up to 200 followers!  Thanks to all my new friends, as well as old!  I really do love sharing bits and pieces of myself with all of you weekly… and it means a lot to me to have this community of support.  I never knew blogging could be so fulfilling…and so encouraging.  That’s really thanks to all of you. xo.

Well, Saturday night was a much needed date night out for me and my hubby, SAM. (Not to be confused with my cat, BAM). Ha!  We have been busy little bees lately and have not had enough “US” time.  Don’t you just hate that!?  Sometimes I wish I could close my eyes and for just one day I didn’t have ANYTHING on my “to do” list.  Only to hang out with my husband.  I’m not sure when that day will come….so I guess I will be thankful for the fun we had this weekend.  We were both part of an event called Fruit of the Soul in downtown San Diego where over 30 local chefs came out and prepared specialty tastings of some of their top dishes.  AAA-mazing.  Obviously, I ate way too much.  Our friends at SEZIO curated the art show there and converted 2 box trucks into pop-up shop galleries. (pretty great idea, right?).  The inside of each truck was lined with artwork from a handful of San Diego artists.  It was a great night. Music, food, friends, laughs, food, art….and….more food.  ha. Doesn’t get much better than that.

I sold this new piece….to whom?  I am not sure.

But if you are reading this and it was YOU….THANK YOU!

Title:  ”Wishing and Waiting”

I originally drew this girl representing my dear friend Suzy, who recently moved to Glasgow (Scotland) for an adventure of a lifetime.  She is a tiny little thing…fearless, creative, spontaneous…with one of the biggest hearts I know. GAH..she just inspires me!  As I was thinking about her and her courage to step out of the familiar  and into place so unknown to her, I began thinking about my own life.  I tend to like to stay in the “comfortable”.  Anything too far from what I know or what I am used to, intimidates me.  Sometimes I wish I was braver, stronger….fearless even.  It’s something I am constantly working on.   My thought with this painting is the beauty of “letting go”.  Realizing that fears, insecurities, and doubts are often the things that hold us back from really running after our dreams and living the life we want to live.  Hence…wishing and waiting.  But I am inspired by people like Suzy, who packed her bag and opened her heart to a whole new adventure.  Yes, these are a lot of thoughts for a painting of a girl holding a balloon…but I thought i’d fill you in on where my mind was at with this one.  And this hairstyle is my favorite right now.

And  well, these are just mittens.  Because winter is coming and that makes me happy.  This piece is still for sale HERE if you want it.  It measures 10″ X 7″ and hangs from a small metal chain.

THREAD SHOW RECAP

Monday, October 4th, 2010

My life has been crazy this last week so I have had little time for updates. BUT…to catch up….two Sundays ago I participated in the THREAD Show down at Horton Plaza, in the heart of downtown San Diego. It’s a place where emerging fashion designers and artists can display their work and reach new audiences.  My art was hung in the gallery section of the show, coordinated by my friends at Art Kills Artists.

Jedidiah was also there selling new loot.  Key pieces from our Fall Collection were showcased in the fashion show (seen in the video below).

I was OVERWHELMED at how many people came out for the event! Thank you so much to everyone who visited and bought some of my work! It was quite a happy day!

“PANELS” ART SHOW

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

PANELS RECAP from Jedidiah Clothing on Vimeo.

On September 18th JEDIDIAH teamed up with WE LOVE CREATIVITY and DJ Here to host a live art event to benefit Invisible Children. It went down at the Ivy Hotel in downtown San Diego. We raised over $1,300 for Invisible Children through the sale of panels taken directly from the wall, donations, and merchandise.

Unfortunately I was unable to attend the “live” installation (I was away in Mexico soaking up the sun with my girlfriends celebrating one of my best friends bachelorette party…i know, what a bummer. Ha!) BUT I was able to throw down a character on one of the panels the night before I went away on my mini vaca. See if you can spot her! (clue: It is by far the girliest portion of the mural!)

Artists Include:
Monstrinho, Kelli Murray, Tocayo, Nick McPherson, Eric Wixon, Neko, Brooks Sterling, Sam Larson, and Skye Walker.
