RUSTIC WINTER ROMANCE

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

One of my favorite things to do is to put together inspiration boards. For weddings, for work (Jedidiah), for party’s…and now, for my friend Janelle’s soon to be nursery! I seriously could do them all day long. There is something beautiful about having an idea in your head and then visually being able to put it to life.  It’s not always that the inspiration turns reality JUST as we imagined….but at least it gets us going!

I was super excited when Karissa from the LANE asked me to put together a theme as a guest contributor on her inspirational wedding website.  Seriously….the site is GOOD.  Check it out if you haven’t yet.  Well, considering the change in season and endless thoughts of cozy nights in front of the fire….I decided to go with a winter themed wedding board: RUSTIC WINTER ROMANCE” . Think fur, antlers, vintage broaches, dark wood, and the contrast of soft femininity against a raw and natural environment.  The palette consists of combined shades of creme, grey, antique gold, and brown.  I suppose you could call it a NON-color palette, which usually tends to be my “color” of choice.  Enjoy!

“As the winter winds litter London with lonely hearts

Oh the warmth in your eyes swept me into your arms

Was it love or fear of the cold that led us through the night?

For every kiss your beauty trumped my doubt”

QUAIL BRIDAL

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

WOWWW! Take a look at these dresses from QUAIL BRIDAL! I found out about the new site through one of my good friends who’s sister just got a job working as their sales executive! How amazing!

Shopping for bridesmaids dresses for my wedding was quite the challenge. (I am just now realizing it has almost been a year since Sam and I got hitched! Holy!) Well, the problem was that I wanted the PERFECT dress (expensive) for the PERFECT price (cheap). Not easy for the world’s most picky shopper!  If you never read my WEDDING DAY POST, you can find out where I finally found my bridemaids dresses for (cough cough…$38 dollars!). It’s true.

But back to QUAIL BRIDAL.  They make it EASY…and their styles are fresh and affordable.  They offer both wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses in an array of coordinating fabrics and colors.  Are these not the CUTEST!?!  Why need to be a bridemaid!?  I want the PARISIAN DRESS for myself for the next party I have to attend!

VINTAGE GLAM PHOTOSHOOT

Monday, September 13th, 2010

I’ve been looking forward to sharing these photos!  I’ve had them on my hands for a bit now but we have been waiting in anticipation to release them!  Sam and I had the opportunity to work with Krystel Tien of COUTURE EVENTS on an old Hollywood inspired wedding shoot.  Generally, Sam is not to fond of the camera, but he was a trooper and looked pretty darn handsome if I can say so myself!  Taryn and Shelby of JOIELALA are responsible for these amazing photos.  I just can’t say enough good things about these girls!  Invitations and menus were created by my sweet friend Suzy Lee of DEAR DARLING.  I am obsessed with her calligraphy.

Today, our Vintage Glam Inspired Photoshoot was featured on STYLE ME PRETTY!  More photos can be found in their GALLERY.

HOMEMADE BRIDAL SHOWER INVITATION

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

I recently finished designing the bridal shower invitation for one of my best friends Dana Hamaan.  We’ve known eachother since high school and she is one of those friends who I know will be a part of my life forever.  No matter where life might lead us.  I admire her in so many ways.  She is getting married this October to an amazing man and I am so incredibly happy for her! Her wedding ceremony and reception will be held outdoors at her parents ranch and the style of her wedding is soft, vintage, and organic.  Lots of burlap, muslin and lace, mason jars and twinkle lights….and a very neutral, muted color palate made up of shades of grey, ivory and tan (we have a very similar style!) Here is the inspiration board I put together for her a few months back…photos pulled from a number of other wedding websites I often visit.

One of my favorite things to do is design invitations, so it was a blast to be able to put together Dana’s bridal shower invitation.  I wanted to go for a very delicate, hand-stitched look for the invite.   Something that fit in with the theme and style of the wedding but was a bit more “girly” and sweet.   I went to PAPER SOURCE (the greatest store on earth!) and bought a few different card stocks for the main invite and small registry card.  I had the idea of getting an extra round scalloped note card to include in the invitation in which all the girls invited could write their favorite recipe and bring it back to the shower.  That way we could present to Dana somewhat of a recipe book that she can keep for her new home.  I also loaded up on a few LACE EDGE PUNCHERS from Martha Stewart…AMAAAZING….a small heart hole puncher, decorative handmade paper, and a bit of ivory paint to detail the front of each note card with a simple flower.  HERE THEY ARE!! What do you think!?

Thanks to Sean and Brianne Walker for photographing these invites for me.  They are also the pair responsible for Dana and Joel’s gorgeous engagement photos…see them all HERE.

LANE

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

LANE is not your typical wedding website.  It is raw,  fresh, and on the cutting edge of fashion.  I love every bit of it.  Founder Karissa Fanning asked me a few months ago (before she launched the website)  if she could feature Sam and I’s vintage garden wedding as one of her first posts….how could I refuse!?

Once again, I have returned to wedding mode as my sister Kerri just got engaged!  I am brainstorming what I can create for invites and DIY crafts and have even starting shopping around for bridesmaid dresses! LANE has me hooked! Check it out.
