The 52 Project – a portrait series of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2013
I snapped these photos of Rylee on memorial day. We had a donut picnic in the park, chased squirrels, and enjoyed the warm sun. I sure do love this family of mine.
What are you all up to today!? For me, Memorial Day is an odd day to call a “holiday”. Because when I think of ‘holiday’, I think of parties and celebrations and a day off of work. Not having any ties to the military, it’s easy to forget the real meaning of today. For our family, Memorial Day usually means an afternoon at the beach and a BBQ with friends. It is, after all, the kickoff to summer, right? But more than all of that, it’s a day to remember. And today, I’m reminded of how lucky I am to live in this nation. I’m remembering all of those who have fought and given their lives for our freedom…and also those who still serve us today. It’s easy to take our freedom for granted, but it doesn’t come without a cost….and I’m certainly grateful for those who volunteer to protect it.
On another, much more shallow note….I did a bit of spring cleaning and just opened another “Shop My Closet” store this morning! There are items from my own closet as well as Rylee’s. So go get your shop on!
So, the ombre trend is still in right!?? haha. Either way, I’m loving these pants. This outfit is kind of atypical for me. I’m not usually one to venture out on a printed pant outside of a skinny….but these felt like pajamas, and so, I was sold. I’m actually really loving the slouchy trouser look. Dressed up with a blouse and heels, or down with a graphic tee and sandals. Below is a roundup of a few I’ve had my eye on across the web:
Remember back in March when I offered up this free downloadable bunny illustration!? Well, I never imagined it would come to life the way it has here! Sofia of Brancoprata styled this beautiful first birthday party for her niece Matilde, all inspired by my illustration! So many lovely details….and one adorable baby girl! Officially blown away Sophia!

This week, i’m featuring both of my “kids”. I love watching the bond between them grow. I remember before Rylee was born, being worried about how Bam (our cat) would react to a baby. At first…it wasn’t great, and we thought we might have to find him a new home. But thankfully, he quickly learned his boundaries, and over time, these two have become the best of friends. Bam has always had more of a personality like a dog than a cat. Very playful and people-friendly. Perhaps that is just the nature of himalayan’s….or perhaps we just got lucky, I don’t know….but we love that about him.
