Sam and I have a good friend named Tyler who owns a brand called Bradley Mountain.  He specializes in rugged outdoor bags and accessories, mainly working with duck canvas and leather.  Every piece is thoughtfully designed and created by Tyler himself.  We are huge fans of not only his timeless products, but also the heart behind his company.

One of my favorite pieces in his collection is the Scout bag.  It’s classic and minimal, with just the right touch of femininity in it’s natural color. And I happen to think that it’s the perfect unconventional diaper bag.  Tyler is even thinking about creating a collection of kids/toddler bags, like this custom mini Scout bag Rylee is wearing!  So hound him on instagram (@bradleymountain) about how awesome it is and this just might be a reality ;)  I have searched high and low for stylish children’s backpacks, and let me tell you, they are few and far between!  This one takes the cake, and then some.

Northwoods Wisconsin….how we love you.

If you were to ask Sam or I where our favorite place to vacation is, I’m pretty sure both of us would tell you Wisconsin.  It probably seems odd to most people, but to us, those northwoods are filled with the best memories.  Memories we want to pass down to our own kids, and relive through their eyes.  Sam grew up spending his summer’s at his grandparents cabin in Solon Springs, and my sisters and I grew up spending our summer’s at our grandparents cabin in Phelps, WI.  We both have the same nostalgia over those beautiful Northwoods.  Skiing, fishing, fort making, family, good meals and stories around the campfire.  We might be getting older, but those memories are still as fresh as yesterday.  Who knew two kids from California would meet and bond over their love for the cheese state!  But every time we go back, it’s just as wonderful as we remember it.

We spent 4 days there, and like always, they went by much too fast.  I kind of loved that my cell phone didn’t have service and that there was no computer for me to check my emails on.  Unplugging to the fullest is the best way to experience this place anyway.  We soaked up a lot of sun and swam in the lake and watched 6 kids under 6 run wild….we laughed with family and ate a lot of meat and didn’t wash our hair…..and it was perfect.

Can’t wait to see you again Wisconsin, and to have a certain little boy meet you too :)

A motto to live by.

I’ve been a long time fan of The Shine Project (and Ashley, the amazing girl behind it all) and the work they do to improve the lives of at-risk teens.  This tee is part of their 7 week campaign, where each week they highlight a different student employee by sharing their story and life motto.  You can purchase Brianna’s tee here, and read her story here.  A portion of this sale will go to Brianna’s scholarship fund.

Well, Sam and I are off to Wisconsin for a bit of R&R at his family’s cabin.  It seems like life has been non-stop the last few months, so we are excited for a little bit of down time together, away from our computers and to-do lists.

These photos were taken a little bit ago, but it’s a simple everyday look that I love.  Slouchy tapered jean trousers and a comfy black tee.  Throw on some heels and a necklace and you look pretty put together :)

That last photo just gets me.  I can’t imagine a better father for our girl.  Owning his own retail shop does not allow for much off time, so sadly, he had to work on Father’s day.  But we got to celebrate him last night.  We went downtown for dinner and found this really cool spot with a great view of the city.  My heart swells when I see  the way he loves her.  Rylee has been a daddy’s girl since the day she entered this world.  During those first few months of life, Sam would wake up with her (and me) every time.  He’d change diapers, feed her bottles when I was too tired to function…..he’d take her to run errands and sit with her for hours just to hear her giggle.  He has always been so involved in the parenting process, and it’s never once felt like I’ve been alone in this.   I am thankful everyday for that.  And for his loyalty to me and desire to be the best father and husband he can be.  I know Rylee will grow up feeling cherished by her daddy, and I know that will play a role in the rest of her life.  In building her confidence and confirming her beauty and worth.  He’s irreplaceable to us.  And to think, we get to do this all over again with #2 in just a few short months.  It’s terrifying and exciting all at the same time! :)  But there’s no one else I’d rather have by my side.

Happy (slightly belated) Father’s day to all the great dad’s out there!
