I couldn’t not post these photos I took of Rylee a few weeks back! I mean, such a big kid already! Last year, when I was doing the 52 project, I got pretty consistent with putting my “good camera” to use. I actually really miss those weekly posts and I’ve already decided I am going to do it again next year! I missed too much this year! Plus, now I have two kiddos to photograph….so it will just make it that much more fun. I hope you don’t mind an overload of my children on here again. haha. I’ve always said this space is somewhat of a visual diary for me to look back on when I am old….so that is reason enough for me to share their sweet faces on here too, right? They are in fact my world. So many people have said that second children never get as much love (in the photo sense), and I can already tell it’s true with Cru man. Picking back up with this photo project will help give me the extra push that I need sometimes.

I posted this photo on instagram last week and was surprised at how many people were interested in having me share the recipe to this granola! It’s a family recipe, passed down to me from my mother-in-law. Every year when Sam and I go to visit his mom and dad, either in Minnesota or Wisconsin, we devour this stuff. I finally wised up and got the recipe to make for ourselves. Sam’s been eating it since he was a kid, and he still asks me to make it for him! And to be totally honest, it’s the best granola I’ve ever had too! (and I’ve tried a lot of granola! haha). This recipe makes A TON….so it will last you a good while. It’s made up of simple ingredients and is quick and easy to make. And if you are constantly buying granola like we were, it’s a whole lot cheaper to make it this way! Just pop a couple bags in the freezer and save it for when you want it. Enjoy!
1 large cylinder of Quaker Oats
2 cups sunflower seads
2 cups nuts *of choice (soy nuts, pecans, walnuts)
2 cups bran flakes
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups canola oil
2 cups honey
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
2 cups dried fruits *of choice (cranberries, cherries, apricots)
Preheat oven to 325 degrees
Spray roasting pan with non-stick cooking spray
Pour oats in and heat in oven for 10 minutes
Remove oats from oven and stir in everything else except for the dried fruits
Bake at 325 for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes
Remove from oven and let cool
Mix in dried fruits
Store in Ziploc gallon bag in your refrigerator or freezer!
Well this sweet boy is one month old today. Wasn’t it just yesterday that we were in the hospital welcoming him into our lives for the first time!?? Man, time seriously flies. But what a blessing he has been to us. Despite the sleepless nights, constant feedings, and tummy troubles….he’s definitely stollen all of our hearts.
I received a couple blankets from Max & Moose and they are absolutely amazing. This striped oatmeal and cream one is my favorite. All of their blankets are made from cotton bamboo fabric which is super soft, lightweight and stretchy….making swaddling a breeze. And since we are still experiencing these terrible heat waves here, it’s been the perfect blanket to keep Cru cool, but still swaddled and secure!
