Being a mother is the most important role I will play in my life. Before my kids, I didn’t know the depths with which I could love. It’s been an extremely emotional week as one of my dearest friends, a mom of 2 sweet babies, is fighting for her life right now to the grips of cancer. It’s moments like these that you realize how fleeting life is. How nothing matters but the love you put out into the world, the people you impact, your friendships, your family, your legacy. The things that often preoccupy my mind and the things that bring me worry are so insignificant in the greater picture. One thing I know for sure is that as a mother, I have a tremendous influence on the lives of my kids. I have the opportunity to shape them and direct them toward becoming all that God created them to be. It’s my job (but not my job alone) to make them feel loved and valued, to teach them that they are unique and beautiful, strong and capable.
I recently got this beautiful locket from Monica Rich Kosann which I have been wearing close to my heart, especially this week. It holds a photo of both of my kids…a constant reminder of who they are to me, and who I am to them. Motherhood is this wild rocky beautiful adventure, and I feel so blessed to be a part of it. May I never take that for granted.

This is so beautiful and so true. What matters the most is sharing God’s love and raising our kids to do the same. Praying for Tori and her family and friends.

    Hi Kelli,

Such a beautiful post… I don’t even know Tori personally but it has me so torn up with emotion watching her battle and all the heartfelt messages from her friends. I can not begin to comprehend how hard it must be for you and the rest of her friends and family…Sending love and yes it certainly puts my life into perspective and makes me want to lead by example in teaching my son what truly matters most. xxxxxxx

What a gift they have in you Kelli. Made me teary eyed reading and thinking of my own littles. I’ve thought of and actually prayed for Tori and her family a lot recently (even though I don’t know her at all) just makes my heart ache for what those close to her must be going through. Thankful she has a friend like you that can be a light in her life during such a dark season. Although its only been through social media, I’m thankful for your impact and influence and what you are sharing in the world.
